Mr. H. H. Parrot was
chief custodian of the Gideon Schools in the 1950's.This picture
shows him in the Boiler Room which was also his office...but
that's not
how the Boiler Room is
remembered. The Boiler Room was also the "Paddling
Room." Sometimes the threat "Straighten up or I'll take
you to the Boiler Room"
was all that was needed.
The Boiler Rooms were replaced with central heat and air.
Maybe it's not more
DIRT ROADS
we need today ... but more Boiler Rooms
