Searching for

Biological Mother

My name is Debra, I am trying to locate my biological mother. I have very little information to go on, I have no name to search for, only bits and pieces of information that has been passed on to me.

I was placed for adoption at seven months old. I also have a brother that was put up for adoption at the same time at 22 months old.

We were placed for adoption in Jacksonville Florida through the Children's Home Society.  Our Adopted parents were given some un-identifying information about each of us. This is the information that I have based my search on and that is what has led me to Gideon.

The information stated, that our mother lived in Gideon as a little girl, and she only has a 7th grade education.

It also stated that she lived with her grandmother until her early teens, at which time her grandmother passed away. After the death of her grandmother she moved in with an older sister. (She was one of seven children)

At the age of 21 she had a son born January 14, 1962 in Gideon. He was called Rocky. Rocky’s father was said to have been a married man with family responsibilities. He did pay for Rocky’s birth. His father was said to have had black hair and grey eyes. His father went to school with our mother.

At the age of 23 she had a girl born April 15, 1963 in St. Louis MO.  We think the given name at birth could have been Debra.

At some point she and the older sister’s family moved to Jacksonville, Florida for work, as the sister’s family were migrant workers. We figure the move took place between April 1963 and November of 1963 because we were placed for adoption in November of 1963 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Our mother was believed to be 5' tall with a small build, brown hair and brown eyes.

The information also stated that her grandfather was a very large man with blonde hair and blue eyes, possibly of a Swedish decent. It stated that he worked at the mill only part time due to an injury but also farmed. We do not know at what age he was when he worked at the mill.

The information never mentioned anything about her mother or her father, only that she lived with her grandmother until her early teens.  I have located Rocky and we have met, he actually married my best friend in 1989 and are still happily married with three boys. They currently reside in Alabama. I am married and have three children and two grandchildren and we currently reside in Florida.

I want so much to meet my mother and to share my life with her. I mean her no harm, I have a lot of respect for this lady, no matter the circumstances that led her to giving us up for adoption. I forgive anything that needs to be forgiven and I blame her for nothing. Rocky and I both have had wonderful lives with families that love us.

I will be in Gideon to visit April 18th through the 23rd.  I have spoken to many residents in Gideon all of which have been really nice and really helpful and I hope to meet them all.

I will be at the classic café the morning of April 18 2007, but until then if you think you have any information that might help me or if you have any ideas to help my search please feel free to call, I’m leaving all numbers where I may be contacted at anytime.

I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and for any thought that you may have.

                        God Bless you all,

Where's Teresa Butler?

Teresa Lynn Butler disappeared from her home on January 25, 2006.  A video camera, play station with games, digital camera, car stereo, Teresa's purse and cell phone are missing, also.   Her boys were found in the morning hours of January 25, home alone by their father after he came home from work.  There was no forced entry but the missing items and no sightings or communication with Teresa since her disappearance make this case very suspicious.  If you or anyone you know, thinks that you have seen Teresa or has information about her disappearance or the missing items, PLEASE contact the New Madrid County Sheriff's office at 573-748-2516

This newspaper article below is about a missing GIDEON woman.  A 1989 GHS graduate, her maiden name was Teresa Lynn Buchanan, but her married name is Teresa Lynn Butler.  She has been missing since January 25, 2006 from her home just outside the Risco city limits.  Her family had a booth set up at the school labor day homecoming last Saturday, giving out flyers with her picture on it.  Everyone who knows Teresa would agree that she was always very close to her parents, and to her entire family, and would never have left voluntarily.  If there was any possible way she would contact her family.

Maybe if we get this out to your entire list it will spread a long way, and someone somewhere may find out something.

This is a wonderful Website set up by Teresa's friend, Amy:  http://find-teresa-butler.tripod.com

This website references other articles about the case.

Thanks a lot,  Charlotte
